The greatest prize in the Houston hobby scene is decided over twelve months, one event at a time.
The HW Wargames Annual Grand Championship runs across every competitive event in the store calendar — monthly tournaments and the monthly painting competition alike. From the first event of the year to the last, every result counts. Points accumulate, standings shift, and by the time December arrives only the most consistent performers across the full season will be in contention.
How points are earned
At every monthly tournament and every monthly painting competition, the top five finishers are awarded championship points on the following scale:
- 1st — 25 points
- 2nd — 18 points
- 3rd — 15 points
- 4th — 10 points
- 5th — 5 points
Points are cumulative throughout the year. There are no dropped scores, no resets, and no shortcuts, every event is an opportunity to build on your standing, and every event you miss is an opportunity handed to someone else.
The Championship
Standings are updated and displayed in store after every event, so the race is visible to the whole community throughout the year. A player who dominates the tournament scene but ignores the painting competition, or who produces outstanding hobby work but never competes, will find themselves overtaken by those who engage across the full programme.
The Annual Grand Championship is decided at the December event, the final competition of the year. At the close of that event, the points are tallied, the standings confirmed, and the HW Wargames Annual Champion is crowned in front of the community that watched them earn it.
The prize
The Annual Champion receives a grand prize awarded at the December event. The prize will be announced ahead of the final month to give the season a fitting finale.
There is only one champion. Twelve months to earn it.
