The HW Wargames Kill Team Spec Ops Ladder is an ongoing campaign league running throughout the year. There is no fixed schedule and no dropped rounds, join when you're ready, play when you can, and watch your kill team grow with every mission they survive.
Each player fields a persistent kill team that carries its history forward from game to game. Operatives earn experience, develop Battle Honours that set them apart from a standard roster, and risk picking up Battle Scars when missions go badly. The team you finish the season with will look nothing like the one you started with, shaped entirely by the games you played and the decisions you made between them.
The ladder works on a simple challenge system. Challenge any player ranked above you, agree a time to play, and get the mission done. Win and you climb up a space. Lose and you stay put, but your operatives still gain experience and your team still develops. There is no penalty for playing, only for not playing. The ladder rewards players who show up consistently and keep pushing up the rankings.
Between games, Requisition Points are spent to recruit replacements for lost operatives, remove Battle Scars, and unlock new capabilities for the team. Managing your roster between missions is as important as winning on the killzone.
The league season runs for six months, with standings frozen at the end. The player at the top of the ladder at close of season is crowned Kill Team Spec Ops Champion. A new season opens immediately, giving everyone the chance to start fresh or carry hard-won knowledge into the next campaign.
New players are welcome at any point in the season. Balancing mechanics built into the Spec Ops rules ensure that a newer or less-developed kill team can still compete meaningfully against a veteran roster.
